Discovering Tallinn #1

One month has passed...Already?!
In that time lots of things have been happening. Today I will share with you some of my stories!

For many of us Estonia is or used to be a question mark. For me also, it was a country I couldn't tell stories about - until 2013, when I visited Estonia for the very first time. Now, two years later, I have collected many facts, stories and experiences. I'll be glad to share some with you!

Estonian houses

It's true: Estonians like to use wood when building houses. I'm thankful that that they do because I just LOVE the Estonian wooden houses! Doesn't matter if they're old and falling apart or new with fancy colors. I like them nonetheless.
It's true also that Tallinn has numerous apartment buildings (some of which originate from Soviet times) but there are quite a few wooden houses left. I've been walking a lot and sometimes when I pass by an interesting house, I capture it with my phone.

Before I left to Estonia, I made this key hanger (as a way of making me feel at home). I chose the colors red and brown, not only because I like it but also because I'm not used to seeing those in Belgium. One day I ran into this house and I just had to take a picture of it.

Estonian Traditions

Since Estonia has more trees than people (only 1.3 millions of human creatures), they tend to be close to each other. The forest serves many purposes, two of which are berry picking and mushrooming. I'm happy to say, I did both

Now this is the real Estonia!
